Supreme Court Ruling

The other day the supreme court ruled that Illinois gun control law was unconstitutional. ( It's about time.) As you can guess I am all for the right or the ability for individuals to be able to carry a weapon for self defense. And to be able to carry it most any where you go. I am also very strongly in favor of rules and regulations to insure that those who choose to do so have gone through a thorough back ground checks, proper training in the use of a weapon, when and where you can use one and probably most important what will happen if it is used wrongly.
The mayor of Chicago immediately started to work on laws that made it almost impossible for the average citizen to obtain a permit and is trying to limit what you can own or how many. What all this is boiling down to is that the mayor and most of the government in that area still is trying to ban guns there. they claim that it will turn out to be just like in the old west movies where there is shoot out in the streets, (gee aint they having that now with the ban in place?) This is the same argument they had in Florida when they relaxed there gun control laws and the only thing happened there is crime rates have dropped some. My point is if it is so safe in that town that the every day "joe/Jane" doesn't need to be able to protect themselves then why does
the mayor have armed security personal? Is he that much more important than you or me or our families? The police cant and wont be there for you every minute of the day. As good as they are they just can't do it. Almost all the time by the time they get there it's too late. Sure they will most likely catch the criminal in the end but that really didn't help you at the time the crime was being committed.
Now the only way to stop gun crimes is to get rid of guns. By that I mean all guns world wide. Every bodes guns. All governments get rid of all guns. No police or armies will have them, no body guards will have them, no hunters will nobody. We all know that wont happen. Impractical and impossible. Besides, get rid of guns and the criminal will use a knife or a club. Hey the cave man didn't have guns and they managed to kill!
The point is as long as there are people out there who will hurt you to take what you have then you need a way to help prevent them. Will everyone armed stop crime? HELL NO!!! Will it maybe slow it down some? I truly think so. I know I would think twice about harming someone if I thought they were armed and would fight back. Thats why bullies pick on the weak. They know they wont fight back. And thats all criminals are. BULLIES!

Militias' and the Goverment

I was driving down the road the other day listening to the radio(NPR) when they were talking about the big arrest of the militia up north. Now I don't think that any group can claim to a Christian militia or Christian group for that matter and advocate killing and terrorist activities. But thats another story. The thing I'm getting at is that this report/story was about this group and what they had planned. There was a gentleman from some big security group talking about what this was, and these groups are all about. He was telling that this group and others like were out to change the government by any means because they feared that the government was interfering too much in their privet lives and placing too many rules and regulations on the people and they were tired of it (well duh).

So anyway the report continued until the alloted amount of time was up for this story. And I have to say that I did find the story interesting and I'm in no way contradicting of questioning the report. And I am in no way saying any thing bad or derogatory about NPR. I enjoy their programs and will continue to listen often. What I am doing is talking about the irony of what happened right after this story ended. The very next story aired by NPR was a story about "How the government wants to tell you how much salt you can have". And they wander why people get so upset with the way things are done.
It was a story where one local government wanted to limit the amount of sodium you can have every day. Like the way they did the transfat issue. They want to regulate the amount of sodium that company's put in their products, how much your favorite restaurant can put in the food being prepared, and I think how much you can use yourself by not wanting or allowing the restaurant to put salt out on the tables. Heck I will just start carrying my own salt shaker with me. That'll show em!!! Now I do understand that it's to help keep everyone healthy and all that. Again thats another story and I'm not getting into that now. This is just something that really struck me funny at the time.

Now I know the two stories had nothing to do with each other, but still it struck me quite funny at the way the two were put on the air. I doubt that it was done with any intentions, but then again?, it was enough to make me laugh out loud going down the highway. Maybe' we need a rule that things like this don't happen any more because it could be a distraction to some one who starts to laugh and drive at the same time!

So anyway just something I thought of at the time. The working of an idle mind, or a warped one, what ever the case may be
